Choosing the right photo helps your personalized wood gift look warmer and clearer after laser engraving. This guide applies to custom pet portraits, couple photo wood slices, family keepsakes, and other photo engraving products from Evervain Studio.

Best photo type

Use a clear, bright, high-resolution photo. Front-facing portraits with simple backgrounds usually create stronger engraving detail. Photos taken in natural light often work better than dark indoor photos.

Photos that may lose detail

Very blurry, very dark, heavily filtered, very small, or low-resolution images may lose detail during engraving. Photos with busy backgrounds or faces that are too far away may also be less clear.

Laser engraving result

Laser engraving creates a natural brown-toned effect on wood. It is not a color print. The final tone depends on the photo quality, wood grain, bark edge, and natural wood surface.
